Miners had a wasted trip to Shaw Cross as the Carnegie Challenge Cup tie fell victim to a frozen pitch.
Miners and Shaw Cross Sharks must try again as the wintry weather showed it has lost none of its teeth despite a few milder days. On arriving at Grange Road Miners found all three of the Sharks' pitches frozen and although match referee Richard Cowling delayed making a decision until both teams were vainly warming up and kick-off time had long passed it was apparent that there was no prospect of play. The match will now be rescheduled in line with RFL decisions.
